It’s been a while….

For those of you who do not know, many of the principles and the philosophy we follow at the gym in regards to strength training come from Coach Mark Rippetoe.  He has been a mentor to a few of the coaches at CFR and our linear progression strength program we follow is an adaptation to his starting strength principles.

He has written a third edition to his book, Starting Strength:  Basic Barbell Training.  This is a great Christmas present to yourself if you would like to learn more about the why and how of what we do every day.  If you have a child who is getting into training this is a must have and will benefit him or her for the rest of their life.

Consider this the polar opposite to Mens Health, Womens Health, or Muscle and Fitness.  Unlike these publications this book is filled with knowledge and techniques to master the basic barbell movements and start them on a journey to a stronger life.  I highly recommend this book.

And finally, if you would like to kill the next hour or so, visit this site to learn more about coach Rip.  He’s famous for his famous quotes.

  1. Finally, the information flow has begun!!! Or restarted…:-) I like the new site, but not nearly enough references to bacon for my taste. I think you might need to hire a full time t-shirt creator guy/dude too.
